1. Transfer baby from DR table to the receiving table and wipe baby dry with OS.
2. Do Cord Dressing:
2.1 Hold umbilical cord upright without pulling too hard.
2.2 Disinfect with cherry balls soaked in betadine paint from the base up the 2 inches high.
2.3 Clamp the cord with cord clamp 1 inch from the base. Put traction on the cord.
2.4 Support the end with a sterile OS and cut the cord close to the clamp.
2.5 Paint the stump with cherry balls soaked in betadine in 1 sweep down the base.
3. Vitamin K Administration
3.1 Disinfect area on vastus lateralis on left leg with cherry balls and betadine paint in circular motion.
3.2 Inject Vitamin K Intramuscular method.
4. Crede’s Prophylaxis
- Gently retract patient’s eye with index finger and thumb then apply ointment from inner to outer canthus.
5. Rectal temperature
- Insert digital temperature in patient’s anus and wait until alarm goes off and read the termperature.
6. Anthropometric Measurements
- Measure the patient’s head, chest, abdomen girth and length by centimeter with a measuring tape.
7. Weigh patient by pounds and ounces and convert to grams.
8. Wrap baby and put on diaper.
9. Show to mother and latch-on.
10. Transfer patient to nursery in transporting crib and thermoregulate.
