Umbilical Catheterization
1. Secure consent.
2. Provide a spare space and prepare the following on a bedside table:
a. Umbicath set i. PNSS
b. Silk 2-0 or silk 3-0 j. syringe 10cc
c. Eye sheet k. twinsite
d. OS 4x4 l. 3-way stopcock
e. Betadine paint m. IV fluid
f. Surgical gloves n. soluset
g. OGT Fr. 5 or umbilical o. iris scissors

h. Tegaderm
3. Prime the fluid to be administered on the soluset.
4. Lay the umbicath set on the space provided maintaining sterility.
5. Drop the OS, OGT Fr. 5 or umbilical catheter, 10cc syringe, twinsite, and 3-way stopcock on the sterile field.
6. Have a circulating nurse assist you in withdrawing PNSS with the 10cc syringe and prime the twinsite attached to the 3-way stopcock. Set aside.
7. Prime the OGT Fr. 5 or umbilical catheter and keep the 10cc syringe attached.
8. Have the circulating nurse prepare the umbilicus by dressing it with betadine paint and placing the eye sheet.
9. Assist in inserting the umbilical catheter.
10. Once the umbicath is secured with the free tie, have it plastered with a tegaderm.
11. Attach twinsite to soluset line and start IVF infusion.
12. Clean periumbilical area.
13. Observe for leakage and refer accordingly.
14. Document the procedure.
